TARP has been flooded by tourists receiving more than 500,000 tourists in 2018 and 2019. It is clear that tourism activity in TARP is one of the major contributions to anthropogenic disturbance. In this study, we assessed the level of awareness and knowledge of the marine environment among tourists in TARP. Despite having stringent criminal penalties for illegal open burning, Malaysia encounters increasing trend in open burning incidents. A better understanding of the knowledge, attitudinal, and perception towards open burning would inform more effective intervention efforts towards changing this trend. A questionnaire survey to assess knowledge, attitude and practice of public was conducted in Kuala Terengganu. A total of 384 respondents from various demographic backgrounds participated in the survey. Descriptive analysis was used to analyse the respondents' socio-demographic profiles. Accordingly, this has driven the present study to achieve its main objective which is to compare the adaptation ability between youth and older fishermen. The current research is quantitative in nature; hence, a survey was conducted on a total of 259 youth and older fishermen residing in different states of Malaysia, namely Pulau Pinang, Terengganu, Johor, and Kedah. The present study managed to conclude a unique and important result which stated that youth and older fishermen within the context of Malaysia have an equally strong adaptation ability.Item Restricted Covid-19 Effect on Community Mobility and Stock Market of Malaysia(Asian Journal of Accounting and Governance, 2022-08-14) Wee Hin Boo; Norhafizah Abu Hasan; Wong Wai YanPhysical distancing is believed to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus. With data provided by COVID-19 Community Mobility Reports from Google, this study examines the mobility patterns at different stages of Movement Control Order (MCO) and investigates whether lower mobility reduces the number of new cases, death cases, and recovery rate. This research also covers the time spent in places such as i) retail and recreation, ii) grocery and pharmacy, iii) parks, iv) transit stations, v) the workplace, and vi) residential areas. As each of these types of places has distinct epidemiological characteristics, they may spread transmission differently. This study also correlates the stock market with mobility patterns of Malaysians in order to evaluate the effectiveness of lockdowns on COVID-19 incidents and its impact on the stock market, in this case; Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI). Findings of this study highlight the effects of pandemic COVID-19 on stock market daily performance by utilizing prospect and uncertainty theory in predicting the short-term impacts of the epidemicItem Open Access Determinants of Green Highway Implementation Factors by Using Partial Least Squares(IOP Publishing, 2020) Fatin Najwa Mohd Nusa; Mohd Amizan Mohamed @ Arifin; Nur Izzati Ab Rani; Azlan Abu Bakar; Aini Nazura Paimin; Fam Soo Fen; Siti Hamidah Abdul RahmanMalaysia was officially launched Malaysia Green Highway Index (MyGHI) manual as a guideline to confirm the green credential of a highway, this concept is at the conforming stage in Malaysia with seventeen (17) operated tolled highway projects and eleven (11) other registered and awaiting assessment for certification. Subsequently, INFRASTAR developed as an evidence-based rating system for infrastructure projects. Further measurement should be taken into account from the perspectives of highway concessions and stakeholders. Thus, this is not only to focus on the rating scores; as well as to highlight the driven factors that lead to Malaysia's green highway implementation. The primary constructs of this research model namely green highway challenges, green highway characteristics and green highwayimplementation are assessed. A total of 63 surveys from 81 surveys were responded (77.8% of responses rate). The response rate was high, and there was no evidence of bias noted. The statistical result of this study corroborates the exploratory study interviewed earlier which suggested a positive relationship between green highway characteristics and green highway implementation. Besides, all the constructs represent 12.8%, 37.7% and 96.2% of factors for challenges and characteristics towards green highway implementation in Malaysia's operated tolled highway projects, respectively. Implications and future research directions of this study are discussed.Item Open Access Determination of Critical Environmental, Social, Infrastructure, and Economic Indicators as Evaluation Checklist for Pre-Project Abandonment Plan Assessment inline with Sustainable Development Goal Plan(IOP Publishing, 2022) SN Abdullah; A Aznah; Mohd Hakim; MF Md Din; M Ponraj; S Mat-TaibThe increasing number of project abandonment because of the Novel Coronavirus pandemic 2019 (Covid-19) calls for better management of abandonment projects. The outbreak of Covid-19 has affected the environment, economy, and society aspects globally. In a developed country like Malaysia, the requirement to submit an abandonment plan is stipulated under the Environmental Guidelines in Malaysia (EGIM) 2016. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a Sustainable Pre-Project Abandonment Plan Assessment Checklist in Malaysia that is in line with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2030 aspirations. This new Sustainable Pre-Project Abandonment Plan Assessment Checklist in Malaysia is comprehensively structured; is expected to minimise the negative impact of the abandonment process towards the environment, socioeconomy, and efficient management of infrastructure; and complies with the related legislation in Malaysia. In this study, data was collected and analysed using NVivo12. It consisted of findings from documents reviewed such as legislations, journals, and books. A questionnaire was adopted as the research instrument to collect data from respondents. A total of 200 respondents which consisted of students, teachers, and administrative staffs, had participated in this study. The stratified sampling approach was applied in this study to select the respondents. It evaluates the awareness and attitude of a group of 541 from 14 universities. The figure to 541 is considered the representative of these students and the selection was based on Stratified Random sampling method and G-power soft ware. A set of questionnaire which comprised of 25 questions was applied as instrument for data collection.
