Sediment transport and morphodynamics of the tidal inlet and adjacent coastlines of Salut-Mengkabong Lagoon, Sabah, Malaysia

Abstract

Salut-Mengabong lagoon is located at the west coast of Sabah facing the South China Sea. Substantial erosion of nearby coastal cliff and associated longshore sediment transport toward the inlets of this lagoon received considerable attention for the stability of the inlet and nearby infrastructures. This paper covers a primary study of water current and suspended sediment flux across the inlet; wave energy, longshore transport and associated morphodynamics changes of adjacent shorelines.
