Item Restricted Climate Change and Carbon Reduction Initiatives for Sustainable Campus(European Journal of Social Sciences, 2009) Kadaruddin Aiyub; Kadir Arifin; Azahan Awang; Jamaluddin Md. Jahi; Shaharuddin Ahmad; Mohd. Talib Latif; Ahmad Fariz MohamedClimate change is a global issue that needs to be tackled by every individual, groups, organization and nations. With our current path of development, climate change seems inevitable. Mitigation measures and adaptation strategies need to be set up just to avoid any further destruction. As IPCC reported that current CO2 level is around 380ppm and will increased to 450ppm under business as usual scenario, stabilization at this point will increased temperature by 2° C. Any increasing in temperature beyond this point will risk human life. This research promote one of mitigating measure, Carbon Reduction Initiatives (CRI) that involved behavior changes on individual and using financial gains as encouragement point.Item Restricted Evaluation of long term trends in oxide of nitrogen concentrations in the Klang Valley region, Malaysia(Environmental Management Society Malaysia, 2005) Mohamed Elnour Yassen; Jamaluddin Md. Jahi; Shaharuddin AhmadAnthropogenic emissions of NOx account for a large majority of all nitrogen inputs to the environment. The major sources of man-made NOx emissions are high-temperature combustion processes such as those that occur in automobile and power plants. NOx contribute to a wide range of environmental effects directly and when combined with other precursors in acid rain and ozone. NOx react in the air to form ground-level ozone and fine particle pollution, which are associated with adverse health effects. Principally, and for a long time, transport vehicles and industrial emissions are the major sources of the pollutants emitted in the Klang Valley atmosphere. Following the increase of urbanization and industrialization, the amount of traffic has increased in the Klang Valley. Traffic is considered as the major source of NOx in the Klang Valley. Exhaust emissions from the petrol-powered motor vehicles include carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, hydrocarbons and particulate matter. A time series analysis of NOx monitoring data from six locations in the Klang Valley Region from 1997 to 2002 is presented. The aim of this study is to evaluate the variations and trends in NOx in the Klang Valley Region for the period 1997-2002.Item Metadata only Kebakaran Hutan dan Isu Pencemaran Udara di Malaysia: Kes Jerebu pada Ogos 2005(Penerbit UKM) Noorazuan Md Hashim; Shaharuddin AhmadItem Metadata only Reflected radiation from a Barley Crop(Penerbit UKM) Shaharuddin AhmadItem Metadata only Socio-economic factors of Bronchitis in Kuala Lumpur : a preliminary analysis(Penerbit UKM) Shaharuddin AhmadItem Metadata only Sunshine and solar radiation at weld reservoir, Kuala Lumpur : a preliminary analysis(Penerbit UKM) Shaharuddin AhmadItem Metadata only The effect of soil properties on Albedo(Penerbit UKM) Shaharuddin AhmadItem Metadata only The influence of cloud on the albedo of various surfaces(Penerbit UKM) Shaharuddin AhmadItem Open Access Urban environmental health: Respiratory illness and urban factors in Kuala Lumpur city, Malaysia(Thai Society of Higher Eduation Institutes on Environment, 2011) Oliver Ling Hoon Leh; Shaharuddin Ahmad; Kadaruddin Aiyub; Yaakob Mohd Jani; Ting Kien HwaWith increasing urbanisation, more people are now staying in urban built environments, even though the conditions of the urban environments may not be conducive to urban residents' health. However, with the lack of health data of urban residents, very few studies have been conducted to examine the relationship between urban factors and city residents' health especially in developing countries. Therefore, the objectives of this paper are to examine the rate of respiratory illness (acute respiratory infection and asthma) among residents of Kuala Lumpur City and also to investigate the relationship between the respiratory health rate and urban factors.,Item Metadata only Variations in Albedo over several cultibvated crops in the Leeds area(Penerbit UKM) Shaharuddin Ahmad
