Abstract
Metalliferous mineral exploitation remains central to economic growth in many developing countries, despite increasing awareness of the negative impacts on the environment and human health. Mining of auriferous sulphides can induce acid drainage and mobilisation of toxic elements such as As during the weathering of mine spoil.
