Item Open Access Impacts of logging road networks on dung beetles and small mammals in a Malaysian production forest: Implications for biodiversity safeguards(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), 2014) Toshihiro Yamada; Masahiro Niino; Satoru Yoshida; Tetsuro Hosaka; Toshinori OkudaWe conducted research on the impact of logging on biodiversity of dung beetles and small mammals in a production forest in Temengor Forest Reserve, Perak, Malaysia. This was done to develop such quantitative criteria for Malaysian production forests while paying special attention to the effects of road networks, such as skid trails, logging roads, and log yards, on biodiversity.Item Open Access Spatial Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) Changes for A Sustainable Biodiversity Conservation: Factors for Potential Implementation of Buffer Zone for FRIM Natural Heritage Site, Malaysia(IOP Publishing, 2022) Che Bon Ahmad; Jamalunlaili Abdullah; Roslina Idris; Abdul Rauf Abdul Rasam; Arniatul Aiza Mustapha; Taskin KavzogluThe study aimed to analyze the changes in land use and land cover (LULC) surrounding the CA - Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Natural Heritage Site, Malaysia. The objectives were: 1) to quantify the changes of LULC, 2) to construct the Digital Elevation Model (DEM), of FRIM and the surroundings, thus representing the Malaysian terrestrial CAs and, 3) to suggest LULC changes- based criteria for CA buffer zone (CABAs). The data used were spatial data and satellite images and, ERDAS Imagine and ArcGIS software to execute the analysis.
