Item Restricted An assessment of sediment and nitrogen input into the upper Merbok estuary, Kedah, Malaysia(Springer, 2015) Wan Ruslan Ismail; Mohd Nazrul IbrahimThe increased loss of nutrients via agricultural runoff has serious potential ecological and public health implications. This paper discusses water quality and nutrient inputs into Merbok river in Northern Malaysia.Item Open Access Longitudinal variation of water quality in Sungai Jarum catchment - linking ecology with hydrology for reservoir management(Environmental Management Society Malaysia, 2004) Wan Ruslan Ismail; Ku A edah Ku HashimIn recent years, human activities, such as urbanization and agriculture, have been blamed for the degradation of water quality in many developing countries. Rivers draining agricultural land are susceptible to diffused or non-point source pollution. A study was conducted in Timah Tasoh catchment areas with the aim to investigate the effect of land use activities and eutrophication of the Timah Tasoh reservoir. A water quality monitoring programme was carried out from January 2001. This paper, however, focuses on the longitudinal variation of water quality parameters of Sungai Jarum as one of the two major water sources for the reservoir.Item Restricted Water quality of streams and wells of north Perlis: a comparative analysis(Environmental Management Society Malaysia, 2007) Wan Ruslan Ismail; Haslina Sarju; Mashhor MansorWater resources in catchment area came from various sources. Water from the surface infiltrate and leached down to the ground water. Land use activities on the surface will affect water quality of both surface and underground water. Underground water has been use by Malaysian as their water resources. Perlis and Kelantan are the two states in Malaysia that have a lot of wells still in use for water supply especially during dry season. This study investigates the spatial and temporal changes in water quality of surface and ground water of north Perlis from July 2001-December 2001.
