Item Embargo Anthropogenic waste indicators (AWIs), particularly PAHs and LABs, in Malaysian sediments: Application of aquatic environment for identifying anthropogenic pollution(Elsevier, 2016) Najat Masood; Mohamad Pauzi Zakaria; Normala Halimoon; Ahmad Zaharin Aris; Sami M. Magam; Narayanan Kannan; Shuhaimi Mustafa; Masni Mohd Ali; Mehrzad Keshavarzifard; Vahab Vaezzadeh; Sadeq Abdullah Abdo Alkhadher; Najat Ahmed Al-OdainiPolycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and linear alkylbenzenes (LABs) were used as anthropogenic markers of organic chemical pollution of sediments in the Selangor River, Peninsular Malaysia. This study was conducted on sediment samples from the beginning of the estuary to the upstream river during dry and rainy seasons.Item Embargo Baseline distributions and sources of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the surface sediments from the Prai and Malacca Rivers, Peninsular Malaysia(Elsevier, 2014) Mehrzad Keshavarzifard; Mohamad Pauzi Zakaria; Tan Shau Hwai; Ferdius@Ferdius Mohamat Yusuff; Shuhaimi Mustafa; Vahab Vaezzadeh; Sami M. Magam; Najat Masood; Sadeq A.A. Alkhadher; Fatemeh Abootalebi-JahromiIn this study, the surface sediments of the Malacca and Prai Rivers were analyzed to identify the distributions, and sources of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs).Item Embargo Distributions and source apportionment of sediment-associated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and hopanes in rivers and estuaries of Peninsular Malaysia(Springer, 2015) Mehrzad Keshavarzifard; Mohamad Pauzi Zakaria; Tan Shau Hwai; Ferdius Mohamat Yusuff; Shuhaimi MustafaIn this study, the distributions and sources of sediment-associated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and hopanes in the Malaysian rivers and estuaries were evaluated.Item Embargo Occurrence, distribution, and sources of emerging organic contaminants in tropical coastal sediments of anthropogenically impacted Klang River estuary, Malaysia(Elsevier, 2018) Tuan Fauzan Tuan Omar; Ahmad Zaharin Arisa; Fatimah Md. Yusoff; Shuhaimi MustafaThis baseline assessment reports on the occurrence, distribution, and sources of emerging organic contaminants (EOCs) in tropical coastal sediments of anthropogenically impacted Klang River estuary, Malaysia.Item Embargo Risk assessment of pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs) in the Klang River estuary, Malaysia(Springer, 2018) Tuan Fauzan Tuan Omar; Ahmad Zaharin Aris; Fatimah M. Yusoff; Shuhaimi MustafaThe concentration profile, distribution and risk assessment of pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs) in the coastal surface water from the Klang River estuary were measured. Surface coastal water samples were extracted using offline solid phase, applying polymeric C18 cartridges as extraction sorbent and measuring with liquid chromatography mass spectrometry-mass spectrometry (LC MS-MS) technique.Item Embargo Seasonal variability of anthropogenic indices of PAHs in sediment from the Kuala Selangor River, west coast Peninsular Malaysia(Springer, 2018) Najat Masood; Normala Halimoon; Ahmad Zaharin Aris; Mohamad Pauzi Zakaria; Vahab Vaezzadeh; Sami M. Magam; Shuhaimi Mustafa; Masni Mohd Ali; Mehrzad Keshavarzifard; Sadeq Abdullah Abdo Alkhadher; Chui Wei Bong; Murad Ali AlsalahiRapid increase in industrialization and urbanization in the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia has led to the intense release of petroleum and products of petroleum into the environment. Surface sediment samples were collected from the Selangor River in the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia during four climatic seasons and analyzed for PAHs and biomarkers (hopanes).
