Item Embargo An Assessment of Coastal Vulnerability of Pahang's Coast Due to Sea Level Rise(Science Publishing Corporation, 2018) Fazly Amri Mohd; Khairul Nizam Abdul Maulud; Othman A. Karim; Rawshan Ara Begum; Md Firoz Khan; Wan Shafrina Wan Mohd Jaafar; Sharifah Mastura Syed Abdullah; Mohd Ekhwan Toriman; Mohd Khairul Amri Kamarudin; Muhammad Barzani Gasim; Noorjima Abd WahabClimate change interacts in a different way with varieties of human activities and other drivers of change along coastlines. Sea level rise (SLR) is one of the major impacts of global warming. Changes in climate extremes and SLR may impact the critical infrastructures such as coastal road, jetty and chalets as well as the local community. The population and assets exposed to coastal risks will increase significantly due to population growth, economic development and urbanization in the future. As most of the cities in Malaysia are situated near the coast, immediate actions are needed to minimize the undesired outcome due to the SLR.The main objective of this study is to identify physical variables that may have impacts on the coastal area, thus develop a coastal vulnerability index (CVI) for the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Seven (7) physical variables have been identified to assess the CVI that consists of geomorphology, coastal slope, shoreline change rate, mean significant wave height, mean tidal range, relative sea level rate and land use.Item Metadata only An assessment of numerical classificatory methods of geography(Penerbit UKM) Sharifah Mastura Syed AbdullahItem Embargo Discovering meaningful patterns for tropical climate change in Malaysia(Inderscience Enterprises Ltd, 2018) Ghassan Saleh Al-Dharhani; Zulaiha Ali Othman; Azuraliza Abu Bakar; Sharifah Mastura Syed AbdullahThis paper investigated patterns of climate change in Malaysia and proposed a fuzzy based symbolic data representation known as a shapelet patterns algorithm (SPA). The Shapelet Pattern visualise climate change patterns in the form of coloured shapes to indicate annual changes in temperature patterns. The experiment used climate change data collected from four stations in Malaysia, Petaling-jaya, Subang, KLIA-Sepang and University Malaya, to produce three types of results.Item Embargo Dynamic impact of household consumption on its CO2 emissions in Malaysia(Springer, 2014) Kazi Sohag; Rawshan Ara Begum; Sharifah Mastura Syed AbdullahThis article aims to measure the dynamic impact of household consumption (final household consumption expenditure, LHC) on CO2 emission from household’s energy consumption in Malaysia from 1971 to 2010.Item Embargo Energy consumption and emission projection for the road transport sector in Malaysia: an application of the LEAP model(Springer, 2016) Musharrat Azam; Jamal Othman; Rawshan Ara Begum; Sharifah Mastura Syed Abdullah; Nor Ghani Md. NorThis study has attempted to estimate the energy consumption and emission of pollutants namely carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOC) from the road transport sector in Malaysia from the year 2012 till 2040.Item Metadata only Geografi fizikal : isu, cabaran dan prospek(Penerbit UKM) Sharifah Mastura Syed AbdullahItem Metadata only Nota teknikal: Landsat MSS imagery and its application in selected areas of social sciences with special reference to Malaysian examples(Penerbit UKM) Sharifah Mastura Syed AbdullahItem Metadata only Permodelan Fizikal bagi Kajian Muara Sungai Langat(Penerbit UKM) Othman A.
