Composition of heavy metals in indoor dust and their possible exposure: A case study of preschool children in Malaysia
(Springer, 2013) Mohd Talib Latif; Saw Mei Yong; Azlina Saad; Noorlin Mohamad; Nor Hafizah Baharudin; Mazlin Bin Mokhtar; Norhayati Mohd Tahir
The aim of this study is to determine the levels of selected heavy metals (Pb, Zn, Cd, Fe and Cr) at ten preschools in Selangor, Malaysia. Dust samples from the interior of classrooms and surface soils were collected using soft paint brushes while Kimwipes were used to collect samples of dust from interior walls and children's palms. Heavy metals in the dust samples were determined using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).

Composition of selected heavy metals in road dust from Kuala Lumpur city centre
(Springer, 2014) Nur Mun’im Mohd Han; Mohd Talib Latif; Murnira Othman; Doreena Dominick; Noorlin Mohamad; Hafizan Juahir; Norhayati Mohd Tahir
This study was carried out in order to determine the concentration of heavy metals, e.g., lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni) and chromium (Cr) in road dust in Kuala Lumpur's city centre. Samples were collected from four sampling locations, each of which had four sampling points and three replications.

Concentration and source identification of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in PM10 of urban, industrial and semi-urban areas in Malaysia
(Elsevier, 2014) Anas Ahmad Jamhari; Mazrura Sahani; Mohd Talib Latif; Kok Meng Chan; Hock Seng Tan; Md Firoz Khan; Norhayati Mohd Tahir
Particulate matter (PM10) associated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in ambient air were determined at two sites within the Klang Valley, Kuala Lumpur (urban, KL) and Petaling Jaya (industrial, PJ), and one site outside the Klang Valley, Bangi (semi-urban, BG). This study aimed to determine the concentration and distribution of PAHs in PM10 and the source of origin through principal component analysis (PCA) and diagnostic ratio analysis.

Sandbar-regulated hydrodynamic influences on river hydrochemistry at Mengabang Telipot River, Peninsular Malaysia
(Springer, 2012) Mei Kee Koh; Edlic Sathiamurthy; Suhaimi Suratman; Norhayati Mohd Tahir
Influences of river hydrodynamic behaviours on hydrochemistry (salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen saturations and dissolved phosphorus) were evaluated through high spatial and temporal resolution study of a sandbar-regulated coastal river. River hydrodynamic during sandbar-closed event was characterized by minor dependency on tidal fluctuations, very gradual increase of water level and continual low flow velocity.

Surfactants in the sea-surface microlayer and atmospheric aerosol around the southern region of Peninsular Malaysia
(Elsevier, 2014) Shoffian Amin Jaafar; Mohd Talib Latif; Chong Woan Chian; Wong Sook Han; Nurul Bahiyah Abd Wahid; Intan Suraya Razak; Md Firoz Khan; Norhayati Mohd Tahir
This study was conducted to determine the composition of surfactants in the sea-surface microlayer (SML) and atmospheric aerosol around the southern region of the Peninsular Malaysia. Surfactants in samples taken from the SML and atmospheric aerosol were determined using a colorimetric method, as either methylene blue active substances (MBAS) or disulphine blue active substances (DBAS).
