Assessments of seasonal groundwater recharge and discharge using environmental stable isotopes at Lower Muda River Basin, Malaysia
(Springer, 2018) Mohd Khairul Nizar Shamsuddin; Wan Nor Azmin Sulaiman; Mohammad Firuz Ramli; Faradiella Mohd Kusin; Kamarudin Samuding
An accurate estimation of groundwater recharge is required to properly manage aquifers, especially for riverbank filtration method (RBF) purposes. The isotopes correlations and differences in different water bodies were studied to assess the sources of groundwater recharge and preliminary tools in understanding of the surface water and groundwater interactions in the Lower Muda River Basin.

Hydrogeochemistry and groundwater quality assessment of the multilayered aquifer in Lower Kelantan Basin, Kelantan, Malaysia
(Springer, 2018) Anuar Sefie; Ahmad Zaharin Aris; Mohammad Firuz Ramli; Tahoora Sheikhy Narany; Mohd Khairul Nizar Shamsuddin; Syaiful Bahren Saadudin; Munirah Abdul Zali
Continual expansion of population density, urbanization, agriculture, and industry in most parts of the world has increased the generation of pollution, which contributes to the deterioration of surface water quality. This causes the dependence on groundwater sources for their daily needs to accumulate day by day, which raises concerns about their quality and hydrogeochemistry. This study was carried out to increase understanding of the geological setup and assess the groundwater hydrogeochemical characteristics of the multilayered aquifers in Lower Kelantan Basin.

PM10 distribution using remotely sensed data and GIS techniques; Klang Valley, Malaysia
(Thai Society of Higher Eduation Institutes on Environment, 2011) Jamil Amanollahi; Ahmad Makmom Abdullah; Raheleh Farzanmanesh; Mohammad Firuz Ramli; Saeid Pirasteh
Remote sensing and GIS have been increasingly used for air pollution monitoring in past decade. In this study the distribution pf PM10 were measured at eight air quality monitoring stations in Klang Valley. The attempt was carried out in GIS environmenta. The data are belonging to the beginning of the week-Monday-and weekend-Saturday-. Aerosol optical thickness (AOT) values retrieved from Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradionmeter (MODIS) were interpolated in GIS for comparison with ground station PM10 data. The validation between AOT and amount of PM10 in the atmosphere were analyzed using non-linear correlation coefficient (NLCC) for 2004.

The effects of improved land use on the meteorological modeling in Klang Valley region Malaysia
(Thai Society of Higher Eduation Institutes on Environment, 2010) Loi Kok Chng; Ahmad Makmom Abdullah; Wan Nor Azmin Sulaiman; Mohammad Firuz Ramli
It has been widely known that changes of the land surface from vegetation area to urban area can substantially affect the surrounding meteorological condition. Meteorological model was used to assess meteorological condition for air quality modeling and forecasting. Inputs used in this study for the meteorological and air quality model were land use and land cover of the terrain. This study tends to examine the sensitivity of land use and land cover on the predicted meteorological conditions. A meteorological simulation using fifth generation mesoscale model (MM5) by Penn State/NCAR was used to compare the effects of land use from two different years on meteorological condition.
