Development of A Comprehensive Model for Erosion and Sediment Control towards Good Water Governance: UKM Campus as A Watershed Model
(The Journal of Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM Journal), 2021) Rahmah Elfithri; Md Pauzi Abdullah; Ahmad Fuad Embi; Mazlin bin Mokhtar; Mohd Ekhwan Toriman; Muhammad Barzani Gasim; Sahibin Abd Rahim; Maimon Abdullah; Anizan Isahak; Noor Ezlin Ahmad Basri; Normaizura Maizan
This study was carried out to develop a whole ecosystem-based erosion and sediment transport control management system of UKM Campus Watershed which is a sub-basin of Langat River Basin catchment. This is done through the development of an Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) model for the UKM campus watershed that includes localised technology, information and communication system, as well as awareness and community participation for the greening and rehabilitation of UKM Campus.

Mercury and methylmercury distribution in the intertidal surface sediment of a heavily anthrophogenically impacted saltwater-mangrove-sediment interplay zone
(Elsevier, 2017) Hazzeman Haris; Ahmad Zaharin Aris; Mazlin bin Mokhtar
Total mercury (THg) and methylmercury (MeHg) concentrations were determined from sediment samples collected from thirty sampling stations in Port Klang, Malaysia. Three stations had THg concentrations exceeding the threshold effect level of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Canadian interim sediment quality guidelines.

Nutrients and pollutants removal in small-scale constructed wetland in Frangipani Resort Langkawi, Malaysia
(Technoscience Publications, 2017) Mohd Shafiq Asnawi Md. Akhir; Ahmad Aldrie Amir; Mazlin bin Mokhtar
Constructed wetlands are the man-made system that mimics the function and structures of natural wetland and manipulated for wastewater treatment. The aim of the present study is to investigate the feasibility of using the small scale constructed wetland (CW) that is integrated with six species of plants to treat municipal wastewater in a hotel. The annual water quality improvement performance of four sampling points in the CW cells is described once in mid-January and mid-September from 2009 until 2013. The parameters studied were pH, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solids (TSS), ammoniacal nitrogen (AN), nitrate nitrogen (NN) and total phosphorus (TP).
