Item Embargo Radiological hazard associated with natural radionuclide concentrations in the northern part of Pahang state Malaysia(Springer, 2015) H. T. Gabdo; A. T. Ramli; M. A. Saleh; M. S. Sanusi; N. N. Garba; A. S. AliyuRadiological studies to determine the health hazard associated with concentrations of natural radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th and 40K in soils of northern part of Pahang state Malaysia were conducted. In situ measurement for external gamma radiation and soil samples was taken from different locations covering the entire districts of the study area.Item Embargo The geogenic influence on 220Rn activity concentration in soil gas of Johor state, Malaysia(Springer, 2021) R. Haruna; M. A. Saleh; S. Hashim; K. Hamzah; J. Zainal; N. Rusli; M. S. M. SanusiThe contribution of thoron (220Rn) to natural radiation exposure is commonly neglected. However, dry porous surfaces with relatively high 232Th content can pose a thoron radiation hazard to the environment. Therefore, this research aims at establishing a baseline data for 220Rn activity concentration in soil gas and categorise the measured data based on the geology of Johor state, Malaysia.Item Embargo The potential health hazards of chronic exposure to low-dose natural radioactivity in Terengganu, Malaysia(Springer, 2016) N. N. Garba; A. T. Ramli; M. A. Saleh; M. S. Sanusi; H. T. Gabdo; A. S. AliyuMalaysia is planning to add nuclear energy to its national electricity grid; hence the knowledge of the levels of exposure to natural background radioactivity is important for policies and law making with regards to radiological protection of both human and the environment. The aim of this work was to measure the variation of background radiation with respect to geological formations of Terengganu (Malaysia) and assess the potential health hazards that are associated with the chronic exposure to natural radiation in the area.
