Item Restricted A preliminary geochemical study on Manukan Island, Sabah(Universiti Malaysia Sabah, 1997) Mohd. Harun Abdullah; Baba Musta; Mohamad Md. TanThe study was carried out to determine the geochemical elements in the soil and groundwater in Manukan Island, Sabah.Item Embargo Assessment of heavy metals contamination in Mamut river sediments using sediment quality guidelines and geochemical indices(Springer, 2015) Bibi Noorarlijannah Mohammad Ali; Chin Yik Lin; Fera Cleophas; Mohd Harun Abdullah; Baba MustaThis paper describes the concentration of selected heavy metals (Co, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn) in the Mamut river sediments and evaluate the degree of contamination of the river polluted by a disused copper mine.Item Embargo Assessment of toxicity level in selected heavy meetal in volcanic soils from Tawau, Sabah(UMS, 2015) Mohamed Ali Yusof Mohd Husin; Hennie Fitria W. Soehady Erfen; Baba MustaThe objective of this paper is to study the concentration and toxicity level of selected heavy metals in volcanic soils around Tawau, Sabah. In this study 10 soil samples were collected from different sampling stations. The selection of soil samples were based on the different type of volcanic rocks in the study area. The determination of concentration of heavy metals in soil samples were carried out using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) analysis.Item Embargo Distance impacts toxic metals pollution in mining affected river sediments(Elsevier, 2022) Chin Yik Lin; Bibi Noorarlijannah Mohammad Ali; Rohana Tair; Baba Musta; Mohd Harun Abdullah; Fera Cleophas; Feona Isidore; Mohd Shahrul Mohd Nadzir; Muhammad Hatta Roselee; Ismail YusoffThe study of metals mobility derived from mining activities in an ultramafic lithology is limited. This study investigates the effects of distance on potentially toxic metals such as Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn pollution, and the geochemical processes of fluvial system downstream of an ex-copper mine (Mamut River). The toxicity level of the river was evaluated using various sediment quality guidelines, ecotoxicological risks (ecological risk and risk index) and pollution indices. The geochemical behavior and stability of these toxic metals in the solid-phase samples were also examined.Item Embargo Heavy metals composition of some soils developed from basic and ultrabasic rocks in Malaysia(UMS, 1996) Sahibin Abdul Rahim; Mohamad Md. Tan; Baba MustaTopsoil samples developed on basalt parent material are widely exposed in Segamat, Johor and Kuantan, Pahang, whereas topsoil samples developed from serpentinite parent material widely exposed in Telupid and Ranau, Sabah. The topsoil were analysed for Co, Cr, Cu, Pb, Ni and Zn content. The values were compared to the threshold concentrations which indicate the permissable level of heavy metal concentration in soils.Item Embargo Pengambilan Cd, Co, Pb, Ni dan Zn oleh Melastoma malabathricum daripada tanah bekas lombong di Lombong Pelepah Kanan, Kota Tinggi, Johor(UMS, 2006) Sahibin Abd. Rahim; Tukimat Lihan; Wan Mohd. Rahim; Tukimat LihanItem Metadata only Perlakuan beberapa unsur major dan unsur surih dalam profil luluhawa batuan basalt di Segamat(Penerbit UKM) Baba Musta; Mohamad Md TanItem Restricted Phreatic water quality of the Turtle Islands of East Malaysia: Pulau Selingaan and Pulau Bakkungan Kechil(Universiti Malaysia Sabah, 1999) Mohd Harun Abdullah; Baba MustaThe current water quality of the upper phreatic aquifer fo two small offshore islands were monitored in order to understand its temporal variation on such ecosysem. The rock types and geological stratiagraphy of the islands were identified and related to its ground water chemistry.Item Restricted The quality assessment of heavy metals in marine sediments from Usukan coastal beach, Kota Belud, Sabah(Universiti Malaysia Sabah, 2021) Ling Sin Yi; Junaidi Asis; Baba MustaA total of fifty-three (53) sediment samples were collected from Usukan coastal beach to study the potential of pollution due to heavy metals in the marine ecosystem. The sediment samples were collected along the coastal beach using a core sampler. The ICP-OES analysis was used to identify the concentration of heavy metals in the marine sediment samples.
