The data show that the status of atmospheric environment in Malaysia, in particular in highly industrialized areas such as Klang Valley, was determined both by local and transboundary emissions and could be described as haze and non-haze periods.Item Embargo Evaluation of aerosol optical thickness over Malaysia based on multi-score ground and satellite data(Universiti Pertanian Malaysia Press, 2019) Khaled Ali Ahmed Ben Youssef; Ahmad Makmom Abdullah; Helmi Zuhaidi Mohd Shafri; Zulfa Hanan Ashļæ½aariThis study evaluates the spatiotemporal distribution of aerosol optical thickness (AOT) over Malaysia. The significance of aerosols in regional and global climate change assessment has become a pressing topic in recent climate discussions. Two different approaches are used in measuring AOT; satellite imagery and ground measurement approaches.However, the satellite approach is deemed the best way for monitoring the patterns and transport of aerosols largely due to its extensive spatial coverage and reliable repetitive measurements. The data in this study were obtained from a Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS), a Multi-angle Imaging Spectroradiometer (MISR), and Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) satellite sensors based on a NASA-operated Giovanni portal. In this study the distribution pf PM10 were measured at eight air quality monitoring stations in Klang Valley. The attempt was carried out in GIS environmenta. The data are belonging to the beginning of the week-Monday-and weekend-Saturday-. Meteorological model was used to assess meteorological condition for air quality modeling and forecasting. Inputs used in this study for the meteorological and air quality model were land use and land cover of the terrain. This study tends to examine the sensitivity of land use and land cover on the predicted meteorological conditions. A meteorological simulation using fifth generation mesoscale model (MM5) by Penn State/NCAR was used to compare the effects of land use from two different years on meteorological condition.
